Karukéra Blues takes the audience on an immersive journey around the Islands of Guadeloupe, delving into the concept of “home” in a post-colonial society from the perspective of the director, Pierre Huberson, who grew up on the Islands and left after graduating high school. The film depicts customs and tradition seldom witnessed by foreign eyes like cock fights, bull cart races and carnival to explore the Island’s colonial history and the cultural ramifications.
