After the Wave follows Sarah, a dental anesthesia resident as she reflects on her time working in a COVID-19 ICU in the Bronx. Through phone recordings, Sarah reflects on her time there and her ability to now process the experience. The film selectively overlays line-drawn animations with observational scenes of Sarah’s life as a resident, musician, and athlete.
